  HIRING MEET AND GREET

Scarborough Music Theatre would like to invite all interested Directors, Music Directors, Choreographers, Producers and Stage Managers to our Hiring Committee Meet & Greet!

The Meet & Greet will take place on Tuesday November 26th, 7.30p at our rehearsal space, known as “the Estate”  located at 51 Estate Drive, Scarborough, ON (Markham and Progress) and via Zoom meeting (Zoom Link)

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet the members of the committee and learn about our application and hiring process and meet other like-minded individuals who may be applying.

Below you will find application submission information outlining the positions available for each show as well as how, where and when to submit your application.

Please note that not all positions will be available for Legally Blonde. This piece was previously scheduled and cancelled due to covid and the majority of the team is already in place.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION INFORMATION

HELLO DOLLY! - November 2025

Approximate Rehearsal start date – Wednesday, September 3, 2025

SHE LOVES ME – February 2026

1) A cover letter indicating the position(s) you and/or team are applying for and the show(s) you are interested in.

2) A current resume(s) highlighting relevant past experience.

3) A list of any commitments that might limit your availability during auditions and rehearsals.

General information

Scarborough Music Theatre is a non-Equity, non-profit community theatre group. We attempt to interview as many people as possible but cannot guarantee interviews to all applicants. All applicants will receive an email confirming receipt of their application.

We accept both individuals and team applications. For team applications, individual resumes are required for each member. Members of team applications will be asked if they are willing to be considered separately for positions. Team applications may also include Producers and Stage Managers as part of the application. A nominal honorarium is available for each of these positions.

Interview Dates 

Interviews will be held on the following dates:

February 9, 2025, from 12:00-6:00pm

February 11, 2025, from 7:00-10:00pm

February 12, 2025, from 7:00-10:00pm

Interview Location

Interviews will be held in person at the SMT Rehearsal Unit located at 51 Estate Dr. Scarborough ON M1H 2Z2 (Markham Rd./401 just off Progress Ave.)

Notes

• There is a 50” TV with an HDMI cable for presentation (available to use). 

• Rehearsals are traditionally held Monday and Wednesday evenings between 7:30pm and 10:30pm, and Sunday afternoons between 1:00pm and 6:00pm. The rehearsal period is typically 6-7 weeks. Sunday evening rehearsals are typically added only in the two weeks prior to opening, once the production has moved into the theatre.

• Additional rehearsals may be scheduled on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings at the discretion of the Artistic Staff and the Producers to meet the requirements of the show.

• The work of the Director and Choreographer end officially at the conclusion of the Preview Performance; the Music Director’s work ends officially on closing night. The Stage Manager and Producer’s positions end after the presentation of their final report to the Board of Directors.

• Each show runs at least 11 performances over 3 weeks — Thursday to Sunday in Weeks 1 and 2, Thursday to Saturday in Week 3; Additional performances may be added in Weeks 2 and 3 if there is sufficient demand for tickets.

• Performances are at the Scarborough Village Theatre, part of the Scarborough Village Recreation Centre at 3600 Kingston Road (Kingston Rd. and Markham Rd.).
