What to expect

In Aliyah’s classes you will be in a safe and supportive environment to work on your skills and try something new. Classes start with a full warm up to ensure you are ready to dance.Then move on to learning the steps that are often found in a dance call.

Aliyah will break down the steps and assist with modifications or improvements. Everyone will do some across the floor work to work on those skills and put them to music, then we build on those skills to make a fun combination. Aliyah will always have modifications for more advanced dancers or new dancers

About the instructor

Aliyah Husain | Singer, Actor, Dancer

Aliyah Husain is a Toronto based performer, who recently finished her
Bachelor of Education at Queen's University, specializing in teaching
Drama and Vocal Music. She is a recent graduate of St.Lawrence College
and Queen's University's Music Theatre program. She is passionate
about arts education and performing. Select previous credits include,
The Last Night At The Cabaret Solitaire (Queens University), Coricopat
in Cats (SLC), and a Follies girl in Crazy For You (Scarborough Music
Theatre). In the fall she will be in the dance ensemble of Anything
Goes!

Aliyah is so excited to be partnering with SMT and SMTY for august
drop-in dance classes!

Prior to University, Aliyah performed in SMTY's Camp Broadway and
participated in Several Summer Teen Intensive Weeks.

Aliyah is a trained dancer and member of the BATD (British Association
of Teachers of Dancing). She is thrilled to have the opportunity to
work with the youth surrounding SMT, and to help them grow as dancers
and performers. In 2022 she was the guest-artist choreographer for
SMTY's Teen Intensive Week and Legally Blonde Jr. and in 2023 she
co-facilitated SMTY Summer Camps and started the Let's Dance drop in
program! She will be co-facilitating Summer Camps again this year.
