Fun fact:
When filming The Sound of Music movie, the opening scene with Julie Andrews singing “The Sound of Music” on the mountaintop was incredibly challenging to shoot. A helicopter filmed her from above, and every time it circled around, the strong downdraft from the rotor blades knocked her over into the grass. She later joked about how she spent most of that iconic scene being blown flat on her face!

Fun fact:
This song almost didn’t make it into The Sound of Music film because producers thought its playful, comedic tone might feel out of place. However, they kept it in—and it went on to become one of the most iconic and recognizable songs from the movie. Fun fact:
“How Can Love Survive” was left out of The Sound of Music film because the movie focused more on the romance and family story, and this song, which pokes fun at how wealth makes love less romantic, didn’t fit that tone. The filmmakers also gave Elsa and Max smaller roles, so their playful, cynical songs weren’t included, but Scarborough Music Theatre production company has thoroughly enjoyed them!
