There are moments in life where the world can feel overwhelming—where so much seems
beyond our control, and the noise of it all can make it difficult to find clarity, purpose, or even
hope. It is in those moments that storytelling becomes essential. Not as an escape, but as a
reminder.
At its heart, this is a story about agency. It’s about someone who chooses to take control of her
own narrative. Elle Woods reminds us that strength does not have to look the way we expect it
to. That kindness, optimism, and heart are not traits of weaknesses, but are instead powerful tools
for change. In her journey, we are invited to see something of ourselves—to recognize that we
too are capable of more than we are often led to believe.
I’ll admit, I approached this piece with skepticism. Like many, I questioned what a musical
adaptation of this movie could offer. But what revealed itself in the process was something
deeply surprising: a story that is intelligent, self-aware, and full of genuine heart. Beneath its
vibrant exterior is a narrative that speaks to resilience, identity, and the courage to stand firm in
who you are, even when the world tries to define you otherwise.
From the beginning, our goal has been to strip away the expectation of caricature and lean into
truth. Comedy, when grounded in honesty, becomes far more immediate and more genuinely
human. This company has embraced that challenge fully. Their work has been rooted in
vulnerability, generosity, and a shared commitment to telling this story with authenticity. What
has emerged is an ensemble that moves and breathes together, supporting one another in a way
that reflects the very spirit of the piece itself.
I, like many, have experienced what it feels like to be underestimated—to have someone form a
conclusion before I’ve had the chance to speak. In those moments, there is a choice: to dim or to
claim the light. That choice sits at the core of this production.
As you watch, I invite you to let go of any expectations you may carry. Whether this story is
familiar to you or entirely new, allow yourself to experience it as it unfolds here and now.
Theatre is a living, breathing exchange, and no two tellings are ever the same.
If we’ve done our work well, you will leave not only entertained, but perhaps a little more
open—to yourself, to your own potential, and to the idea that who you are is already enough.
And maybe, just maybe, you’ll walk out feeling empowered to take the reins of your own story.

After enjoying the stage in a few shows, I have been privileged to learn the behind-the-scenes role as a Producer with SMT and SMTY. Huge thank you to our incredible Legally Blonde team, especially my partner in crime Rob for keeping me laughing! Thank you to our dedicated and talented cast for making my job so fun! To my family, thank you for your ongoing support of my busy schedule. And thank you to our pup-pup Toby for joining our stage family with all your cuteness!

An accomplished choreographer throughout the GTA, Baiba has worked extensively with local theatre groups such as Marquee, EMP, and Oshawa Little Theatre but this is her first show with SMT. She has won numerous THEA awards for outstanding choreography and there are so many she has lost count but just locates the trophies in her guest bathroom where visitors are free to count. When not teaching dance steps to casts or Zumba classes, Baiba enjoys travelling, a gourmet meal and a nice cocktail! In her spare time, she loves gardening, parasailing, clog dancing, competitive duck herding and practicing her skills on the Theremin. She adores working with this production team and this talented cast.

This is my third time stage managing Legally Blonde, and each time I’m reminded how powerful this story is. It encourages us to look beyond labels, embrace our strength, and recognize how much stronger we are together. Endless thanks to Sergio, Miguel, Kathleen, Rob, and Baiba for being such an incredible team, and to our amazing company for their passion and hard work. I owe my love of theatre to my parents, Mary Beth and Dianne—thank you for opening this world to me. And to Phillip, Jeremy, and Rachael: your love and support mean everything. I’m so grateful to share a life full of creativity, music, and imagination with you.

After many shows performing in the orchestra, Tawny is thrilled to experience the “magic” behind the scenes for Legally Blonde. Swapping her reeds for a headset, she is “Positive” that this new perspective as an Assistant Stage Manager will deepen her love for the creative process! Tawny extends a heartfelt thank you to the SMT community for the support and friendships that make this theatre a second home and for the opportunity to create and grow. When not backstage, Tawny is a dedicated multi-instrumentalist, performing on clarinet (E♭, B♭, and Bass) and saxophone (Alto, Tenor and Bari) with the Columbus Concert and Jazz bands and the Band of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada.

Extra special thanks to the board for their support in making SMT's sound department a priority this season. And finally where would she be without her amazing, beautiful, talented, and increasingly strong wife, Kathleen; thank you for keeping me going <3

Back at it again with SMT and couldn't be happier. This show is SO much fun! Thank you Miguel for having me and big ups to the rest of the band. After graduating from Humber College's music program Julian worked for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a trumpet player from 2011-2014. Since returning to land Julian has been an active member in the Toronto music scene. This has given him the opportunity to hone his expertise on the trumpet becoming fluent in most genres of music. As well as a trumpet player Julian is an accomplished horn arranger/transcriber/producer, often having to write and sometimes record horn parts for many of the bands/artists he has worked with. Moving back and forth between 1809 and the present day, Arcadia takes place at the Coverley’s family estate. In 1809 the estate’s grounds are being landscaped into picturesque gardens that include a hermitage. We follow the brilliant Thomasina and her tutor Septimus as they explore mathematics, science and the nature of sexuality and romance. In the modern-day timeline, Coverley family descendants and scholars try to unearth the truth about a possible scandal at the estate, that might have involved Lord Byron.
Often called “a play for thinkers”, Arcadia weaves a spectacular story that will not only touch the mind but also the heart.
Recommended for age 14 and up.

Presented by Scarborough Theatre Guild
In the steamy streets of New Orleans, Blanche DuBois arrives seeking refuge with her sister Stella. But as secrets unravel and tensions rise, Blanche’s fragile façade begins to crack under the weight of her past. Tennessee Williams’ iconic play is a masterful exploration of desire, deception, and survival in a vibrant but unforgiving world. Don’t miss this powerful tale of passion and heartbreak.
Recommended for ages 14 and up. Includes depictions of domestic violence, sexual assault, mental health struggles, and strong language.
